As I feared. I'm already a couple of weeks out with only minor improvement in the stickiness, so I won't expect much more from it before it's too cold to paddle.
I applied the urethane outdoors on a nice day (mid 70's) so it's not as though the reaction was fighting cold ambient temperatures. I'm generally pretty anal retentive about mixing epoxy and such, but I must have flubbed this batch, and good.
I found the stuff pretty miserable to work with. Application videos show it going on like cool molasses- this went on like warm poly. Using the "squeegee" method to apply it was wishful thinking in my clumsy hands. Maybe a cooler day would have made things easier.
I'll probably remove the skin and start over, but the kids are on me to finish their kayaks so I think this season is a wash, alas.
