Skin-on-Frame: Stern/bow plates

My wife and I are building Tom Yost's Sea Tour Double, what should the bow and stern look like? As far as I can tell, the only answer on his website is "the slope that looks best", which isn't very confidence-inspiring for a first-time builder.

We can certainly eyeball it, but without some kind of starting point, I just don't know what it should look like. Long, pointy and out of the water? Short and stubby? Flattened stern for possible rudder?

Help a nervous beginner!
