Since Tom's plans are free, not all the details for each plan is repeated for every plan. You'll have to search through the plans to find all the details. The sizes that work for one boat, work for all the boats, like stringer section sizes. Tom makes nothing at all on these plans, so details are only on the site once.

The average gunwale size is 1 1/2" x 3/4", the sizes are on the section plan detail I think.

Use whatever wood you want, the wood shown is usually what the builder shown used, not necessarily Tom's boats. I've used WRC and pine on these boats, the cedar ones are lighter.
