Hi John,

A perfect patch will look exactly like an undamaged boat. Should be impossible to see. Problem is if it's not tapered into the surrounding glass enough it may look perfect but won't be as strong.

Btw, color matching old gelcoat is an art, one I don't do or even try to do. I used to know people that did when I was in the business, they did that work better than I could hope to do.
