Hi Bill,and mostly others.

The goal for most is mostly water tight, that's what dry bags are for, keeping your stuff dry.

After numerous wet adventures now, I am, unadvisedly for sure,not using dry bags for my singular casual items like my woolen sweater when I think its' going to be too hot for my next part of the journey I just chuck em in the hold and rely on the above sealing system.I still use dry bags for most of my gear but am able to be comfortable that my casual stuff dumped in the hold will be OK...yer right!It's true.
