Private emails are fine, I'm sure, if things start getting really serious re plan or kit purchasing etc, but it is quite nice for other watchers of a thread to pick up on info relating to what is available, and from who.

In all the years I have been logging in here, it has happened, but it has been very rare that an obvious plug has been used to commercialise a thread.

I was interested to note the new Thomasson surf ski design here. It would be sad not to know it exists if I were on the lookout for such a design.

I am not a commercial builder, so I say what I like, without giving it a second thought. It must be quite difficult for pros to find the right balance. I personally don't care what anyone says, if I felt they were spamming I would probably start ignoring their threads, but that has never happened.

If the professional builders start becoming inhibited about sharing their knowledge, and that includes where to get designs and materials, and what is new, then it would be a loss for the rest of us. Who better to talk about a design than the guy who developed it? Let them chip in, by all means.

Guidelines are not rules. There are no secrets on the Internet, so why not share right here? I would rather people erred on the side of too much information, even if it risks being a little commercial, than that they become shy and limit input. I think most of us here know each other well enough and we get the spirit of the forum just fine. This is a wonderful place, and I'm sure it has brought everyone more business. Spamming would be horrible, but we all know that none of us are likely to get rich doing what we do, so lets just have loads of fun instead.

I love all you guys, and girls.

Concur. I had no idea that Robert I had any relation to Heirloom Kayaks until his third post in this thread. And I have read many of his posts in the past. I can handle it all through his website now.
