Ah! We need a list of good excuses to build a new boat, maybe we should start a new thread. I'll start the ball rolling -

The old one got scratched
I didn't maintain the old one and it is now past help
The wife wants to hang the old one on the living room wall
I put on weight
I lost weight
I haven't built a (stripper, S&G, SOF, SOT, canoe, kayak, whitewater boat, fishing kayak etc delete as applicable) before
I have some left-over plywood/cedar/epoxy/glass (you can keep this one going forever . . .)
I've been asked for one by my (wife, niece, nephew, grandson, mistress etc delete as applicable)
