I don't think Jay regrets saving someone, but it is an unfortunate fact that no good deed ever seems to go unpunished. There should be a reward for good deeds.

Perhaps for actions of this kind a decal could be devised - like the tokens of fighter pilot aces - that could then be used to cover the dents and scratches so honorably acquired.
