John, there are quite a few spots ranging in size from 1/4 to 1 inch in diameter. I was thinking of cutting out the spots in the area of the cockpit and patching them. Fore and aft leave them be.

Definitely no need to think about stripping the glass, from the sounds of it.

For the cockpit area patching, if there are very many spots it might be easier/cleaner to just cut out the loose glass, sand/feather each spot, and then just add light (2-3-4oz) cloth and epoxy over all, running the cloth from side to side. the cockpit area can usually benefit from a bit of extra glass to protect from sandy feet/heels.

I would tend to either patch all the spots fore and aft as well, or at least get epoxy in the voids. Leaving 'bubbles' will invite water to collect there later. Probably the wood is epoxy-sealed, so perhaps not a problem. The way I look at it: It's SO much easier to do repairs like this before the hull & deck are joined that I don't want to take a chance. It's only a few hours and it's a hobby, right? ;-)
