The graphite does an excellent job in keeping the UV out of the epoxy, what is above the graphite powder will hurt nothing. It's usually on the bottom of the boat which usually isn't up in the sun much anyway. I've seen no degrading on my NDK Greenlander that I first tested the graphite coating on after several seasons of use with no effort at all to protect it from the sun.
