If you work in wood, you can certainly appreciate the craftsmanship of a musical instrument made of wood. The thing about guitars is that no other instrument has so much diversification in sizes shapes, sounds and woods. I made a few years back that cracked. It's a large learning curve and you really should have a humidity controlled workspace if you build one.

I recall making a guitar in the 50's. I was just a teen, with mostly ancient rusty tools and no idea of proper design, materials or methods. It was nice and easy to play but the sound was ho-hum. Not surprising really as I used plywood; no problem with cracking though! So perhaps the music and guitar bugs are indeed related . . .
