The pedals are shown on a track for adjustment. You might want to stretch your legs during the day or be wearing footwear with differing sole thickness on different days, hence the adjustability. The track could be a plastic tube, bolted to the seat and fitting into a holder glued to the fore bulkhead.

Note that the rudder lines auto-adjust. Some commercial units now do this too but we've been doing it for decades.

If you want no slip, and we don't find it necessary, sprinkle the epoxy with fine sand.

I don't understand how the rudder 'pedals' control (i.e. move) the rudder lines.

From the pictures (at http://203.86.194.7/Sites/kask/gems/RudderPedals40V2.pdf ) it looks like the rudder lines are free to slide in the slots at the top of the rudder pedals (?).
Basically it seems that the rudder lines run from the rudder to a fixed point near the bulkhead, and the pedal assembly slides fore-and-aft along the rudder lines (and the track/bar). So how does a pedal that's free to slide fore and aft along the rudder line actually control/move/pull the rudder line?

Please explain!
