Jeff,
That certainly is giving the way of thinking on the overall structure and it's function another dimension than the path I've been at ..
I may have a screwed impression on how close to the water-surface the gunwales actually are.

I don't recall if the tubes are biaxial. I did want them thicker, but they appear pretty robust and they don't worry me.
I don't think that my kayak should be looked upon as a 'real' whitewater thing, definitely not. I'm sort of bound to fail on hitting the right width of the kayak .. I have no experience on kayaking, but a good handful of years within a single-scoller and thus used to have a stern attention on immediate stability .. I don't want it any wider than absolutely necessary.
