Four guys walking down a street: one is a writer, one is a musician, one is an artist and the other guy has no money either. As Rob Macks once noted, that last guy was most likely a boat builder.

Well all of those guys above combine in me.

I am about to write a book entitled, LIVING HAPPILY ON NEARLY NO MONEY.

The trick really is to do absolutely all building and maintenence oneself, never travel so far that you cannot sleep at home, barter paintings and photographs for all luxuries and anything you can't make yourself, and to find joy in simple things.

The only luxury one cannot do without is a really decent cashmere sweater. This can be worn at all inescapable posh functions. Anyone who cares will know what it is, and all the women at the event will want a proper cashmere hug.

Cashmere can usually be bartered for paintings.
