: I am starting to build an 11 foot SUP using a triangular strip
: wooden rail system. Just wanted to know how difficult it is to
: round them out by hand. I know some people have done this using
: 1/4 by 1/4 inch strips like we build kayaks. Has anyone have any
: insight into this area. Also I hope to fill the board with foam
: so I don't have to worry about the board inflating in the sun. I
: am not sure what foam to use or where to get it. If anyone has
: made such a board I would love to see it. Thanks Joe
I think foam will add more weight than you want. I just put vented leash plugs in mine and it worked fine http://greenlightsurfsupply.com/ventedleashplug.aspx . I used strips for the rails. My design made it a little difficult because the strips had an abrupt curve and at the same time changed the vertical angle. I just had to put some extra effort into fitting them. If I build another one I may square off the back end a little.
