Got here a little late. I use a very high carbon steel "marking knife" I bought in Japan as a scraper. It has a single bevel with a simple angled cutting edge. Because it is such high carbon content it is extremely hard and works as a scraper longer than anything else I have. Typically the edge has very small chips out of it when it is dull.
A file might actually be hard enough to duplicate the steel
