Strip: Guillemot Offsets *PIC*

Hi everyone,

I recently began the process of building the Guillemot from Nick Schade's book "The Strip-Built Sea Kayak" by reproducing the offsets table on page 54 in Microsoft Excel.

I re-organized the data into columns of X and Y coordinates for each of the form long positions (0.5ft, 1ft, 2ft, etc...), and plotted them using the X-Y Scatter Chart ("Smooth Marked Scatter" type).

My hope was that Excel would generate a smooth curve between the data points, but instead it seems that (especially for the forms near the bow and stern) there are not enough data points to really get a sense of what the curve is doing. Looking at several photos of the boat online, I am confident that the flat spots which my plots are generating are misleading.

How have others out there filled in these under-defined areas? Are they simply so small that I shouldn't be worried? Forms 0.5ft, 1ft, 16ft, and 16.5ft are of greatest concern, as they have only 6-12 data points.

Please see the attached picture to better understand my concern.

Thank you!

-Uri
