I had : forgotten you used Paulownia. That definitely explains the
: lighter weight.

Is Paulownia suitable for kayaks? I'm going to use redwood in the hull for an Outer Island and wondering whether a lightweight deck would compensate for the slight extra weight vs. cedar, as I'm trying to keep the boat at 35 lbs. or less. I also want a "blond" deck and wonder if this wood fills the bill. All thoughts appreciated re: strength, beauty, and anything else apropos!

Thanks in advance,
