Have you paddled an F1? I don't think it's as stable or as maneuverable on flat water as my Night Heron, and I really don't like the depth. I'm 6' tall and the coaming is up to my rib cage. Speed is deceptive. What seems fast is sometimes not fast. I didn't have any feel for the speed, and there was nobody around to gauge against when I was paddling it. There was also no breeze to speak of, so I can't say what the tracking would be. I have found that the less stiff the tracking (up to a certain point) a kayak has, the more likely it is to travel in a straight line. If I had paddled the F1 on a rough Great Lakes day I may have a different opinion. My NH performs better if it's at least a little bumpy, and I assume the same would be true of the F1. If I paddled the Oregon coast I might like it better, but it was definitely not my favorite kayak.
