: I'm in the 180s, and my Night Heron surfs great for me. I runs
: circles around commercial kayaks in rough water. I am not hugely
: experienced at surfing sea kayaks, but I spend a lot of time
: surfing ww kayaks on rivers. The skills kind of transfer a
: little, mostly it's feel for wave placement that transfers, but
: even then not so much.

: If you think weight is your issue it's an easy thing to test- just
: add some ballast.

For surf and rough water play, think of the newer, smaller boats in the Night Heron family, the Petrel (which some have scaled up or down from 95% to 107%) is awesome in rough water and gives exceptional control in along boat on surf. And now there's a smaller Petrel Play. Worth a look.
