How's the build progressing? I love his design - really want to go to a workshop, but that's just not possible right now.

One thing in his description puzzled me. Brian mentions that the secondary chine placement is crucial ("....discovered that if the little 1/2" secondary chine is carried past the cockpit it messes up the surfing") , but looking at the drawings I don't see anything that terminates at the cockpit. What am I missing here?

: Whoops, sorry for the delay - a week holiday in Rarotonga, very
: nice :)

: Regarding the build - I've just done the gunwhales and deckbeams.
: All pretty straightforward, just a couple of problem areas.

: First one was the positioning of the deck beams - couldn't figure
: that out accurately from the diagram, then I realised I just do
: it based upon my choice of cockpit length. I went with the same
: size as the Night Heron I built previously and spaced the
: remaining deck beams out at 60cm intervals - since I'm in the
: metric part of the world.

: The next one was rib routing - I made a pine router guide for the
: rib stock... but pine is a bit soft and after a while it starts
: to deform and hence the routed holes for the ribs became a
: little unshapely (but still ok).
