Epoxy: It Could Have Been Worse :O

I had some small gaps between strips that I wanted to fill, after I put in the sealer coat of epoxy. So late last night I went out and mixed up a very thick mixture of microballoons and resin. Then I added the "Medium" hardner. Applied it to the cracks, wiped off the excess and went in to bed. This morning I checked on it and it was as if I had not added the hardner...Well, I could have sworn I had added the hardner.

At this point I added an appropriate amount hardener to the pot material which was still a paste consistancy and mixed it up to see what would happen. I was using an new batch of off-brand microballoons and wondered if that could have been the problem. I was also using up some "USComposite" resin which I been having some problems previously. (USComposite "fast" hardener does not work properly!!). At any rate the mixture is now setting up, ergo I must have forgotten to add the hardner.

Now I had a boat with all the cracks filled with resin and microballoons and no way to harden it. I wiped the areas down with MEK. Then I blew more resin/microballoons out of the cracks with compressed air and wiped it all down again with MEK. Hopefully this will get me back to square one. It least it was not resin/glass and no hardner.
