: ET,

: I got creative when I installed the footpegs in my latest Spring
: Run. I really like the footbraces in my Wenonah canoe and I
: happened to have some aluminum tubing that Wenonah had provided
: to me when a set of footbraces did not fit correctly. Anyway,
: you can see from the pic that I bolted the tubing to the back of
: the footpegs to give me a brace across the whole width of the
: kayak. The tubing is in two pieces of different outside
: diameters so they slide into each other and allow me to adjust
: the footpegs back and forth and auto adjust for the change in
: the width of the kayak.

: I've paddled the kayak with this set-up quite a few times this
: summer and it's very comfy as well. Between the foam under my
: heels and the ability to use the pegs and the tubing for foot
: support, it's a comfortable and supportive set up. Just one more
: way to do it...

Yeah, it is nice to be able to move one's feet around a bit and still have the support.

In the North Star, which has foot pegs, I also use foam under my heels, but with the angled blocks on the foam one's feet are much better supported, heel to toe, and there seems to be far less pressure on the backs of the heels. The padding on the hull seems less necessary.

One thing that helps, which I did with the pole dancer, is to put a screw in hatch in the forward bulkhead. I use smallish cockpits and the bulkhead hatch makes it easier to push the friction fitting foam blocks back out for adding and subtracting slices by going in through the forward deck hatch. It also make it easier to move and service normal foot pegs too.

Obviously the bulkhead hatch unscrews into the forward compartment.
