I've started (almost finished) making some interior goodies for my kayak, things such as bulkheads and seat sorta stuff. I've made them out of 3" minicell and have well over half of what I bought left. One thing I didn't even think about really was foot holds. Am I way off thinking I could cut/carve wedges of this foam placed against the front bulkhead as holds? I haven't sealed either bulkhead yet and could push it for or aft if need be. Seems like it would be kind of comfy on the toes and still do a fair job.

Having never really been in a kayak I'm not sure what's best or needed... I don't anticipate any real rough seas, days long trips, or crazy roll type trickery.. More of just a lazy day paddling kind of thing at least for a while. Also it's my boat so if the foot rests don't adjust to fit other paddlers so be it... If down the road adjustable holds are needed I could just take out the minicell wedges and add them right?

They're only like 40 miles from my house so I saved shipping and just picked it up at the store. Seems like decent stuff, but I'm certainly not a foam expert.

Also I found carving a VERY comfy seat wasn't all that hard. I don't have an angle grinder so used a wire wheel on a drill to carve out a basic outline, then a Stanley "Sure Form" to carve the rest and fine tune. The Sure Form thing worked well. It did leave the foam kind of fuzzy, but I like it. it's like suede :)
