I think I have it sorted. I laid some pieces in on the back deck. And tried different positions for the strip in my pic to land. I think I can get it coming straight through and parallel to the rear deck. Time will tell.

I can't for the life of me remember what that little notch is all about. :(

I have my forms cut and hot glued back together. Your deck strips don't carry through from back to front, so it's a little different. Nice design though. My walnut passes around the cut out. There should be an inch or two of the white and then the cut out will be walnut again.
