Tools: Ceramic Marking Knife... ???

Hello fellow woodbutchers. I just got a new marking knife as a package deal that came with a Veritas dovetail saw, two dovetail bevel gauges, and a ceramic marking knife. The knife was advertised that it never needs sharpening. I figured what the heck- for the price of the package deal I basically got the marking knife free, so I figured I would give it a try. It is certainly sharp and very dense. I can see how it will hold an edge for many years, but my fear is that the first time I drop it, it's going to break. They say it has a hardness second only to a diamond, but even a diamond will shatter if you drop it. Has anyone used one of these scribes before? Just wondering if any of you had- either accidentally or on purpose-dropped one of these.

Really I am not much into the "never needs sharpening" thing, as sharpening to me is part of the fun of it all. I guess this weekend I will get to give it a try and knowing me this will most assuredly include dropping it onto the hard tile floor so I'll let ya know what happens.
