Learning curve redeux - I built my strong back with the most precision possible, made it perfectly level in every direction, and haven't moved it. I carefully cut my forms and used the baseline and water line to get everything perfect. I used a nice horizontal/vertical laser level and was quite sure everything was dead nutz. After attaching the inner sheerline and almost feeling satisfied I noticed an odd bump or two.

1st mistake: I attached the forms to the cross members(2x2 blocks), should have attached the cross members then attached forms. That was bound to be in a book I have I got bored reading.

2nd mistake: used the strong back as my base of level. Nothing is, wood isn't perfect, humidity and heat may deflect or move what I thought couldn't move.

So I went back with what I know from building fences: a very tight string and a nice line level. I measured down to the water line instead of up from the strong back as before. I had the forms clamped to the cross members so I could bump left, right, up, down, plumb, and level. Now all is fair and I can get this thing moving.

So I didn't go with what I know and tried to get all fancy with the laser forgetting my experience. Strings don't lie.
