I have a Pygmy Artic Tern that I completed in 2000. After many years it has faded and needs to be updated. I intend to strip off the fiberglass like Nick did to his Petrel, sand it and stain it and then re-fiberglass it. My question is, Nick used a heat gun to loosen the fiberglass. Doesn't this also affect the fiberglass on the outside? Would it loosen the fiberglass on the inside so that it wouldn't have resistance to rocks, logs etc?
