Yes leave the smaller station spacing at the center (cockpit)., reference your stations spacing measures from the ends. It will be approximately 11 inches.. If you are are using 3/8 inch thick stations the gap should be 11 and 1/4 inch...etc... Focus on accurate measuring the spacing from the ends of the strongback. Also follow "jbmerv's" suggesting of having all the stations printed template or cnc form aligning marks facing towards the end of the bow or stern. This will aid in aligning the stations. Nick Schade's book "The Strip-built Sea Kayak" page 73 explains the spacing.

PS: Also, on this forum I have seen several builders having problems aligning their forms. I used Nick's procedures to the letter, and only had to make some minor correctiions on a few stations.
