It looks bigger in the photo than it feels on the boat. I find it doesn't really get in the way of paddling. Windage is not much of an issue as it is fairly close to the middle of the boat. I tend to use it if I know I am going to be taking a lot of photos and throwing gear in and out of it is easy and one doesn't need to hassle about clipping stuff on an off all the time. A bottle can be strapped to the side of it and sandwiches etc are easily accessible. It is not photogenic if you want to have pics taken of you, but then junk all over the deck tends to ruin the lines of the boat anyway.

I haven't had to do a rescue with it attached, but I can't see it getting in the way of a T rescue.

Once attached it is bombproof and will not come off and will not spill stuff into the drink

They do a smaller version, but I would think it has all of the negatives of the large bag while being far less useful.

I use it less than I thought I would before I bought it.
