Material: fiberglass improvements

Hello,
My daughter was given a old fiberglass kayak it has no hatches or tie downs of any sort. it has a small spot needing patched, so we will be playing with fiberglass and was wondering. how hard is it to add a hatch to a kayak that doesn't have a spot designed for one. we also want to add tie downs for traveling and for gear right in front of cockpit. the aft is slightly peaked so i dont think i could use a big hatch maybe two smaller ones
