Matt, I have that problem here in Edmonton, Alberta. Most of the powered boats on the river have powerful engines to be able to move upstream. The river current is quite strong. In the 11 years I have paddled the river, only one boat has slowed for me: the Fire Department Rescue Boat. All of the others either ignore me or seemingly deliberately swerve toward me to create large waves. If only I had a rocket launcher for these idiots. I'd love to see one of these yohos have their engine cut out...I'd paddle right past them and keep going.
