Not at all the same situation, Glen. The camera is mistreated only because it goes in the water with me...I leave my tools at home while paddling. :) That said, I have set a record for the length of time I have owned my Canon Rebel...over three years and counting...it did get a dunking this summer by accident (of course) but only because I was enjoying too much of my home-made, it was a dark sky with a beautiful full moon and I wanted to prop the camera on something for a long exposure. Thought the jug of fresh water I was setting it on had the lid on it...turns out it didn't. The camera dried out the next day and I was back to drinking home-made and taking pictures. Close call but hey, no tools were involved.
