: I had intended to carve braces for the undersides of the hatches on
: my stripper, but after reading some comments here about 'Plan
: B's', I'm reconsidering. I've cut out braces from WRC, with
: hooks incorporated into the ends. That would work, though the
: hooks will require FG/epoxy to beef them up.

: But some others here indicate they use no braces, and someone noted
: they simply glue wooden rings for an attachment point at the
: corners. I've molded a few curved tabs from FG and carbonfiber.
: they'd be very strong, should look good, and weigh almost
: nothing.

: anyone try this? Can you rely on the hatches not changing shape
: without bracing.

Hi George,

I use extra glass under the hatch, does the same thing as braces. Works fine, no deflection at all. The big thing is to relax the tension on the bungies when the boat isn't in use.
