I've repaired a number of shells for the Boulder Rowing Club - all of theirs are fiberglass, though. Port Townsend, WA also has a shop building amazing wooden shells, with dacron decks - much cooler indeed than glass boats. I assume you will just be covering the decks? I've been asked several times to build an entirely SOF rowing shell, and it's on my list . . . .

I agree that they are pretty impressive craft- though I am less impressed by only being able to use them at 5 a.m. in dead calm waters!
