Hmmm...I think I leave what they say around 1.5". You're not adding all that much weight.

Btw, you can make the laminate nice and black with something like graphite or copier toner added to the resin. Except for the small gap between the hatch and the deck no one will ever see it, but if it's black it disapears, if it's white (bare glass) you'll probably see a line around the hatch.
