: deck. Has anyone tried to stain okoume to match cherry? If so,
: what stains did you find to work best? I'm not set on cherry,
: it's just a wood i know and have easy access too; so if anyone
: can suggest another wood with similar color that they've matched
: a stain too that would be helpful as well.

Cherry's pretty but very heavy, you won't want to use much. I've got little pointed V shaped pieces on the ends of the decks of my Disko Bay and they added probably 1 1/2 pounds all by themselves, also added about a week to the build, not an easy wood to shape and doesn't bend well. I had found a little bit of figured cherry and wanted it as a detail.
