...once you give up the commercial kayak paradigm of having your feet basically upright. In a Greenland-style boat, you angle your feet forward, which dramatically reduces the amount of room you need and makes a snug-fitting boat quite comfortable. One of the most common mistakes people make when building SOFs and other low volume boats is positioning the foot rest beam or bulkhead too close to the cockpit, which doesn't permit angling one's feet.
