: Hi All,
: Cuningham recomends sewing the 3/8"square wood flange/ lip on
: the coaming with the stiches spaced 2" o.c. this seems way
: to widely spaced to me. I'm thinking that 3/4-1" o.c. would
: be better. That would put a lot of holes 3/16" from the top
: edge of the 7/16" thick coaming. I wondered if that would
: weaken the coaming to much. Both the coaming and flange are ash.
: What do you think?

: thanks

Hi Paul,
I presume the lip is drilled through? I put the stiching/lashing holes at the lower edge of the lip so the stitching went around the lip. Either would do. You could make the holes smaller, about 2mm and spaced about the 1" mark. It won't make much difference in strength in the coaming.
