If you look at that picture of you paddling, your arms and paddle are over the skirt, not over the deck. With the ocean cockpit your arms will be over the deck, which is why I was wondering. I have two boats with ocean cockpits and am very used to using them, though they do limit leg room. The ocean cockpit tends to require a fairly low deck or the deck gets in the way.
