In Response To: Strip: Measure a kayak for copying (Peter M)

: Hi all.
: I have a friend who wants to build a copy of an existing SOF kayak
: in strips.
: A few weeks back I found a page somewhere on the net describing how
: to measure a kayak for copying, but I canĀ“t find it anymore.
: In case anyone have a link to such a page, I would be very
: grateful.

I don't have the link saved, but I really should. Someone on this forum has a device that looks like a giant profile copier, normally used get an outline of wood trim. This big version is then set over the hull at the locations of the proposed stations and the profile is then copied, easy to lay onto a piece of plywood and then trace the outline giving you the hull shape at that station. Do the same thing for each hull station, then deck station and you have the templates for the boat, simple.
