: I am interested in building a strip built kayak. I am looking for a
: source of full size plans. I am also not sure which kayak would
: be best for me. This will be my first one and I would like a
: combination of easiest to build with good stability and carry a
: heavy load. I am 6' 4" and weigh 210. I am not going to get
: any smaller.

I found choosing kayak plans to be pretty difficult. The problem for me was the fact that I didn't have the chance to test paddle any strip built boats. The local Massey's sometimes lets people test out kayaks, but most are a far cry from what you can build. On top of that there are a lot of really good looking kayak designs out there. I ended up with my top two contenders as the Great Auk , and the redfish King, I went with the King, but I still think about building an Auk as a second kayak, I really like the almost plumb bow on that boat. I may try a Gary Dierling (sp?) outrigger canoe first, so many boats so little time.
