Strip: cutting fiberglass

I plan on overlapping my deck glass about 2" down onto the hull. When I initially cut the glass for the hull, I found that making an 18 foot long NiceNeatStraight cut was NOT easily done. I'm talking about cutting the silk BEFORE any resin is added on. So...anyone have an idea/tool that wood ensure that my overlapped piece is not scraggly?
After it's epoxied and set up a little...no problem with shaving the extra off with razor...but this deck piece...kinda got me worried.
