: Well, right you are. I got back to work on the boat this afternoon
: and suddenly realized that I couldn't put any stock in my
: measured rocker because two of the sections were still attached
: to the strongback. Pulled out the screws that were holding them
: and my rocker went to absolutely nothing...YIKES!

: What I did for now was strap the center of the boat to the
: strongback and blocked up both ends to the point where I'm
: afraid to put in any more spacers. Hoping this will help by
: bending all the stringers. I hate to pour a bunch of water all
: over the floor so I was thinking maybe this evening I'd get a
: nice fire going outside, boil a big pot of water, dunk towels
: into it and wrap them around the stringers. Any reason this
: wouldn't work?

I believe that the gunwales likely need to be overbent more than they can be on your frame - because springback will naturally reduce some of the bend you produce. Bending the stringers is not something I've done, but will probably help. The towel thing will work fine, or so I've read.

FWIW, I've paddled canoes with zero rocker, and they were just fine. Hogging might be bad, though . . . .
