How are you using the circular saw on top to rip strips?

The advantage of attaching a circular saw under a table is that you can make the blade height just over the wood height so it safer. Plus you can rig a 2 x 4 fence with a feather board coming down on top of the blade and one holding the wood in. So, virtually, you can't touch the blade if you wanted to.

I helped a person rip strips years back with that method and he just drilled 4 holes in each corner of the base plate and screwed the saw to an old wood table. It works fine, just be sure your attachment of the saw is rock solid.
