Strip: cutting the strongback to length.

I'm about to cut the angled ends for a strongback, for a storm LT; any suggestions how to ensure the cut is 'square'? The dimensions are 2" X 4.5"; the bow section has a 16" diagonal cut. I can measure everything out 'square', but... cutting each side, I suspect it'll be difficult to maintain a parallel cut.

Thanks.

Cut it close, then clean it up with a plane.
