In Response To: Shop: Cutting an already glued sheerline (PatrickC)

: I want to lower my sheerline one strip...but that strip is already glued to
: the strip below it.

: That means i have to separate the two glued strips...which will of course be
: re-glued together with sheer tape later.

: Will that leave a long nasty visible scar? Maybe i oughta leave it alone.
: I could heat gun and razor it and try not to cut the wood...

: The reason i want to lower it is because with the sheer line where it is..the
: next strip i attach will be pretty close to the hard chine corners of the
: deck..within 1/4"-1/2". Just wanted more room to play with.
I did the same thing when I was building my Outer Island. I removed the shear strip with a heat gun and a razor saw, even working slow, the task seemed to go pretty fast once I got started.
