: I'm new to this Kayak building thing - I'm using Nikumi design, trying the
: plans some helpful person had had posted on their site. But as I've got
: most of the stuff cut out, I can't help but wonder if it's a little too
: narrow for me. How do you all size out boats to make sure you fit before
: you start committing material and time?

How tall are you and what do you weigh ?

The Nikumi is 21" wide and due to it's Baidarka shape lengthwise, it's quite
stable. Narrow doesn't have to mean tippy, though paddler size and weight
distribution is always a factor.

If you are still concerned, then seriously consider the 24" wide multi-chine
"Sea Tour 15 EXP" and "Sea Tour 17 EXP". These are the most stable boats in
the manual, along with the Sea Bee 13 and the super stable Sonnet 16
Inflatable / folder.
