Skin-on-Frame: Sizing out yaks

I'm new to this Kayak building thing - I'm using Nikumi design, trying the plans some helpful person had had posted on their site. But as I've got most of the stuff cut out, I can't help but wonder if it's a little too narrow for me. How do you all size out boats to make sure you fit before you start committing material and time?

I apologize in advance if this is a naïve question, but I'm exceptionally green behind the ears.
