Skin-on-Frame: Bulkheads or sea sock

Hi,

I am almost to the point of putting the deck on my first SOF boat (Tom's Sea Cruiser, wood frame). So about time to look at floatation bags or something for bouyancy, as I'll be using this boat to learn to roll.

I saw somewhere (pic here or another site or somewhere) that someone had made permanent bulkheads for their SOF boat - but can't find it now. I was thinking of doing this to minimise water entry. My idea is to silicone PVC to a bulkhead, with flaps glued to the skin and extra strips and silicone around the stringer points. Has anyone tried this, or have an idea if it would work (i.e. provide a watertight bulkhead).

Alternatively, would a sea sock type arrangement be better? doe sanyone have any links or ideas on how to make one at home - i.e. material to use, attaching to cockpit rim (so it's removable ideally).

Thanks,
Darren
